Akkeshi’s Flowers
The Plant Named after the Town: Akkeshiso (Glasswort)
First discovered at Kaki Island in Lake Akkeshi, this plant was subsequently named akkeshiso in Japanese (referred to as Glasswort in English). It’s one of the representative halophytes of Hokkaido, and also goes by the name “coral grass.”
