This park is home to over a thousand North Japanese hill cherries, the town’s official tree, and has become well-known to many people as a great place to view cherry blossoms.
The trees are in full bloom from the beginning to the middle of May.

Ayamegahara
A natural flower garden containing approximately 300,000 arctic irises. You can even meet the horses that protect them. Along with the irises, this garden is home to over 100 different varieties of flowers that bloom on beach shores and mountains.
These flowers bloom from May to October.

Linking the north and south sides of the town, Akkeshi Bridge has a length of 456.5 m, and was the first sea-spanning bridge in Hokkaido.
It has a deep crimson color when lit up at night, and has become a well-loved symbol of the town.

Akkeshi Waterfowl Observation Center
A place where you can observe the plants, waterfowl, and other animals that live in Lake Akkeshi and the Bekanbeushi Wetland, both a part of the Akkeshi-Kiritappu-Konbumori Quasi-National Park.
Not only can you watch footage of the wetland on a large screen TV, but you can also learn about the ecology of the waterfowl through many other resources, including explanatory panels and dummies.

Osonaeyama Observation Platform

Historic site: Kokutai Temple
This Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple was built in the late Edo Period by the Tokugawa Shogunate in an attempt to indoctrinate the Ezo region (Hokkaido), among other reasons. It’s also known as one of the “three government temples of Ezo.”
The triple leaf crests on the main temple’s entrance and the old gates testify to the temple’s prestigious status at the time.

Cape Aikappu
Atop Cape Aikappu’s 80-meter cliff that juts out into Akkeshi Bay, is the Bell-of-Love-Arch, said to realize the feelings of love of those who ring it.

Pirikauta Coast
From this vantage point, you can see Kojima and Daikoku Islands rising up out of the ocean. During kelp fishing season, Kojima Island has up to 4 fishing families living on it, but Daikoku Island has remained uninhabited. Instead, it sits as one of Japan’s foremost breeding grounds for waterfowl.
It’s particularly famous as the breeding ground for the Leach's storm petrel.
